Summer is here… now what?

It’s hot, the sun’s out, the kids are running wild and you have to get them out of the house but what to bring with you?

There are a few essentials I pack every time we leave the house no matter our destination.

My children are a little older so I stopped carrying a diaper bag a while ago, but I still grab a bookbag and pack it with everything we may need while we’re out.

The biggest essentials are snacks and juice. I promise it never fails as soon as we step foot outside my son is asking for juice. I mean before I can even get his seatbelt on! So I always grab some juice boxes, a few waters, and Mio. Snacks can vary from chips, crackers, and fruit snacks just to tide them over.

Next on the list is sunscreen. Pretty self-explanatory I mean we live in Florida it’s basically hot and humid year-round. We are typically a lotion sunscreen family since my kids hate the chill from spray sunscreen.

I recently saw a TikTok that said to use a style of makeup brush to apply to keep your hands clean if you are worried about a mess, otherwise all hands on deck to keep those babies protected.

The next most important thing is a spare pair of clothes. This is mainly for my son because accidents can still happen even at four years old. Plus, with his sensory processing, dirty or wet clothing can trigger him, so we try to never go unprepared. And his headphones!!!

The last item depends on the distance we are traveling but the kid’s tablets tend to find their way in the bookbag as well. We try to tell the kids, to take a nap, enjoy the scenery or let’s chat but after a while, you’ve seen that variation of the street or road before and need a little entertainment. Many apps are downloaded and can be used without the internet and the kids can watch any movie downloaded to the table at the time for longer entertainment needs.
