DIY Dollar Spot Easter Baskets Ideas for Kids

I remember my first Easter as a new mom. My daughter was no more than a month old and we got her a first easter themed basket from the store. It was stuffed with toys, a stuffed animal, and other little trinkets. What I realized the next year is she didn’t care for half of it. When my son came along that was even more apparent so in the recent years instead of buying them a pre-packaged easter basket I build my own.

My favorite spot to grab items to fill my basket would be dollar tree. They have so many themed items to choose from and some of my kiddos favorites like playdoh and putty. Plus the candy select is top notch.

Another fan favorite is the dollar spot at Target, My kid’s love their flavored water so a new water cup is always welcome gift in their eyes.

If I can salvage the baskets from the previous year I put them away until it’s time to stuff the baskets for a new year. The last item I restoke is grass to fill the bottom of my baskets to help look full and of coarse a resting place for when they go Easter Egg hunting.

I found the most important part of celebrating any holiday with kids is it’s the thought that counts. Finding items my kids will enjoy while also not feeling like I’m wasting money is a win/ win for me. The next time you’re out looking for holiday decor or trinkets for your kids to enjoy don’t forget a DIY can go a long way to save the day.
