Hey, mamas! Summer is basically here, and it’s time to dust off the beach gear and pack up the car for days of sunshine, sandy toes, and endless fun. As a single mom, going anywhere alone can seem like a daunting task, but I’ve discovered some tips and tricks to make beach trips easier for me and the kids. I know I written about this before but things change right? If you want to read what I’ve said in the past check it out here.
Living in Florida means we’re blessed with plenty of sunshine, but even we need a break from the beach now and then. So, how do I make beach trips smoother? The key is to pack the night before.
Over the years, my kids’ beach preferences have changed—from sandcastle-building toys to skimboards (against my better judgment, lol). To ensure we don’t forget anything, I pack the car the night before with these must-have items:
- Sunscreen (a mom’s best friend)
- Chips and snacks (because hungry kids are cranky kids)
- Portable speaker (for those beach vibes)
- Ground mat (to keep the sand at bay)
- Spare clothes (for post-beach comfort)
- Tent (an easy-fold option that’s solo-mom-friendly)
I found this fantastic tent that folds and unfolds easily—perfect for solo beach days without feeling overwhelmed. It only takes one person to set up and break down, which was a key factor in my purchase. Grab yours here
On the morning of our beach adventure, I pack our cooler with goodies like Lunchables, water, Gatorade, and snacks. Sometimes, I treat myself to a delicious pub sub. (If you haven’t tried a pub sub, you’re seriously missing out!)
Next, I get the kids in their swim gear, slather them in sunscreen, and off we go!
For matching swimwear, Old Navy is my go-to. They have the cutest matching bathing suits for the whole family. And if you have a child on the spectrum or have sensory issues yourself, these water shoes from Target are perfect for keeping that pesky sand out from between the toes.
In the end, making a beach day fun and stress-free comes down to planning and packing ahead. Sure, I still forget something now and then, but we always manage to have a blast.
So, mamas, grab your beach bags and sunscreen. Let’s make this summer unforgettable!
Happy beaching!
